Documents Georgia can apostille

  • Georgia vital records (official certified copies)
  • Georgia court documents (official certified copies)
  • Georgia Corporations Division documents
  • Georgia notarized documents (e.g., powers of attorney, affidavits, corporate documents, translations, diploma copies, school transcripts)

The issuing state is what matters, not where you live now. A document issued or notarized in another state goes to that state's office, and documents from federal agencies go to the U.S. Department of State through our federal apostille service.

Georgia requirements to check before you book

  • Notarized documents do not need county clerk certification before the apostille.Source
  • Vital records and court documents must be official certified copies with the issuing official's signature and seal; GSCCCA recommends a new certified copy for documents issued before 2000.Source
  • Notarized documents need the exact notarization date, a signature matching the commission, and a clear seal showing the notary's name, county, and state.Source
  • School transcripts must be signed by a school official before a notary; only Georgia school documents can be apostilled in Georgia.Source
  • Documents for non-Hague countries go to the Georgia Secretary of State for Great Seal Certification; mail requests need a cover letter naming the country.Source

Good to know

  • Apostilles are issued by GSCCCA, not the Secretary of State; the Secretary of State issues only Great Seal Certifications for non-Hague countries.
  • Translation is not required before apostille; a translator's affidavit can be notarized, but the notary cannot be the translator.
  • FBI background checks go to the U.S. Department of State; GBI and local police checks need an official's notarized signature or a notarized affidavit.
  • Photocopies are not accepted unless certified as copies by a Georgia notary.

About our Georgia apostille service

Georgia apostille and authentication prepares Georgia-issued documents for international recognition. Common files include birth certificates for dual citizenship, marriage and divorce records, logistics and import-export corporate documents, and diplomas for an overseas teaching post. Trilogy Notary Services LLC coordinates notarization, submits to the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority, and returns your set through nationwide mail-in processing.

How it works

  1. Book onlineChoose the option that matches your document and destination, then tell us the document type, the country where it will be used, and your deadline.
  2. We review your document firstBefore anything is filed, we check it against the Georgia requirements on this page. If a step is missing, such as a notarization or a certified copy, we tell you what's needed before we file.
  3. Send your original or meet a notaryWe send mailing instructions after you book. If your document still needs to be signed and notarized, one of our mobile notaries can meet you, or you can use remote online notarization where it's accepted.
  4. We file and track itWe submit your request to the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority with the government fee and follow it until the office releases it.
  5. We ship it backYour documents come back by tracked shipping. If your destination also needs embassy legalization or a certified translation, we can handle that next.

Pricing

$348 per document.

Prices include the Georgia state fee, courier filing, return shipping, and handling. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies, and any deposit is shown before you pay. If you have more than one document, tell us the count when you book and we'll confirm your total.

Government processing times are set by the issuing office and change during the year. We don't promise a delivery date that depends on a government office, and we'll tell you the current timing when we review your order.

Common questions

How much does a Georgia apostille cost through Trilogy?

Our Georgia apostille service starts at $348 per document. That price includes the Georgia government fee of $3 per document, plus courier filing, return shipping, and handling. Sales tax, if it applies, and any deposit are shown at checkout before you pay.

Who issues apostilles in Georgia?

The Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority (GSCCCA). Trilogy Notary Services is a private document services company: we prepare and submit your request and track it, but the apostille itself is issued by the state office.

What does Georgia require before it will apostille a document?

Notarized documents do not need county clerk certification before the apostille. Vital records and court documents must be official certified copies with the issuing official's signature and seal; GSCCCA recommends a new certified copy for documents issued before 2000. We check for these before anything is filed.

Can Georgia apostille an FBI background check or another federal document?

No. Documents issued and signed by a federal agency, such as an FBI background check, are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State, not by the Georgia Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority. We handle those through our federal apostille service.

What if my destination country is not in the Hague Apostille Convention?

For non-Hague countries, Georgia issues this instead of a standard apostille: Great Seal Certification (issued by the Georgia Secretary of State, not GSCCCA). Many non-Hague countries then require embassy or consulate legalization, which we handle through our embassy legalization service. Tell us the destination country when you book.

How long does a Georgia apostille take?

As published by the state when we checked on October 29, 2026: Walk-in: typically less than twenty minutes. Mail: normally one to two business days. Add time for document preparation and shipping both ways. Government processing times change and are outside our control, so we don't promise a delivery date.
