The issuing state is what matters, not where you live now. A document issued or notarized in another state goes to that state's office, and documents from federal agencies go to the U.S. Department of State through our federal apostille service.
Illinois apostille and authentication service authenticates Illinois-issued documents for use overseas. We process birth and marriage certificates for dual citizenship, court-certified divorce judgments, corporate resolutions for a foreign subsidiary, and university transcripts. Trilogy Notary Services LLC prepares and submits filings to the Illinois Secretary of State Index Department, then returns them through nationwide mail-in service.
$347 per document.
Prices include the Illinois state fee, courier filing, return shipping, and handling. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies, and any deposit is shown before you pay. If you have more than one document, tell us the count when you book and we'll confirm your total.
Government processing times are set by the issuing office and change during the year. We don't promise a delivery date that depends on a government office, and we'll tell you the current timing when we review your order.
Our Illinois apostille service starts at $347 per document. That price includes the Illinois government fee of $2 per document, plus courier filing, return shipping, and handling. Sales tax, if it applies, and any deposit are shown at checkout before you pay.
The Illinois Secretary of State, Index Department. Trilogy Notary Services is a private document services company: we prepare and submit your request and track it, but the apostille itself is issued by the state office.
Requests must be submitted on the form prescribed by the Secretary of State and accompanied by the lawful fee. The document must be an original. Where applicable, it must be certified by the appropriate authority and notarized in accordance with the Illinois Notary Public Act; otherwise the Secretary of State may refuse it. We check for these before anything is filed.
No. Documents issued and signed by a federal agency, such as an FBI background check, are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State, not by the Illinois Secretary of State. We handle those through our federal apostille service.
For non-Hague countries, Illinois issues this instead of a standard apostille: Certification. Many non-Hague countries then require embassy or consulate legalization, which we handle through our embassy legalization service. Tell us the destination country when you book.
The Illinois Secretary of State does not publish a standard processing time. Total time depends on the state's queue plus shipping both ways. We confirm current timing when we review your order, and we don't promise a delivery date we don't control.
